Chocolate Cake Recipe from Looma's
Delicious chocolate cake
Before You Start
- Cake will result in 16 servings
- Total prep time required is 20 mins
- Total cook time required is 45 mins
- Baking tray
- 10" Round cake ring, 2" tall
- Mixing bowl
- Baking paper
- Cooking spray
- Wooden spoon
- Kitchen aid
- 300g Melted butter
- 600g Whole egg
- 400g Dark Chocolate
- 150g Gluten Free flour
- 240g Almond Meal
- 1000ml Cream
- 480g Icing Sugar
- 750g Dark chocolate
Method for Chocolate Cake
Step 1 - Melt butter until warm and set aside. Melt chocolate until warm and set aside.
Step 2 - Whip eggs in the kitchen aid until light and fluffy.
Step 3 - Combine melted butter and melted chocolate and slowly pour into the eggs as they are getting whipped on a low speed.
Step 4 - Combine dry ingredients in a bowl and make sure all ingredients are evenly distributed.
Step 5 - Remove bowl attachment from kitchen aid and slowly add the dry ingredients while mixing with a wooden spoon. Mix well to ensure even distribution of dry ingredients.
Step 6 - Lay baking paper on baking tray. Spray the inside of the cake ring and place on baking tray.
Step 7 - Pour chocolate cake mix into the cake ring and place in oven at 150 Degrees. Bake for approx 45 mins.
Step 8 - Pierce a knife into the cake to see if further baking is required. Knife should come out clean.
Step 9 - Leave the cake to cool before removing the cake ring.
Method for Chocolate Ganache
Step 1 - Boil cream in a heavy based pot.
Step 2 - Once cream has boiled add chocolate to the cream and mix until smooth and silky.
Step 3 - Allow ganache to cool slightly before using.
Method for Masking Chocolate Cake with Ganache
Step 1 - Once the cake has cooled down, slice the cake across the middle and apply a nice thick spread of ganache on the bottom half of the cake.
Step 2 - Place the other half of the cake on top of the chocolate ganache and evenly apply more ganache around the sides.
Step 3 - Spread another layer of ganache of the top of the cake and there you have it!
Keep the cake refrigerated before slicing and serving. Best served with Berries and vanilla ice cream- YUM!
