 Management Team

Ibrahim Khatib: Head Chef and Managing Director

Ibrahim, also known by his childhood nickname ‘Looma’, is the head chef and director at Looma’s. He runs the business alongside Michael, oversees operations in the kitchen and is continually spending late nights and early mornings experimenting with new recipes.

Ibrahim developed his love and passion for cooking over many years spent as a fine dining chef at the Shangri-La hotel Sydney. After a 6-month stint working and partying in London, he ventured into the pastry world at Croquembouche Patisserie in Botany, where he learned the art of making croquembouche, macarons, croissants, quiche and all other things French.

When not in the kitchen working his magic, Ibrahim loves watching Seinfeld, eating popcorn at the movies and having drinks with friends.

Michael Khatib: Managing Director

Michael is the co-founder and director at Looma’s. He runs the business alongside Ibrahim and mostly spends his days working on business strategy, process, marketing, meeting wholesale customers and occasionally helping out (causing havoc?) in the kitchen.

Earning his Software Engineering degree at UTS in 2005, he worked as a software developer for 5 years and then as a business analyst for Tabcorp and Commbank. After 10+ years in corporate life he left to pursue his entrepreneurial ambitions, and together with brother Ibrahim launched Looma’s in January 2012.

When not managing the business, Michael enjoys a delicious sushi meal, swimming laps at the pool and lounging on the couch watching Foxtel or reading biographies.

Nabil Raad: Logistics Manager

Nabil, aka ‘Nabs’, joined the team in early 2013 after a 7 year stint as warehouse manager at Toll Logistics. He is in charge of stock control, allocating delivery runs to the drivers and organising order picking and packing.

In his down time, Nabil can be found blitzing the field at oz-tag, barracking for the Bulldogs with his dad, watching movies at Event Cinemas Gold Class in total comfort, and planning weekend getaways in remote areas of Australia.

Nina Chanpreeyakul: Operations Co-ordinator

Nina has been with Looma's since mid-2014 and is now the operations co-ordinator after learning the ins and outs of the business incredibly quickly. Nina runs the kitchen ensuring that all jobs are completed to a high standard and that everything from order labels to stock levels are correct and in order.

Nina migrated to Australia from Thailand in 2008 after her university education in Bangkok. She studied International Business in Wollongong before opening a Thai restaurant in Maroubra with her husband five years ago.

When not working at Looma’s or at the restaurant, Nina enjoys spending time with her husband and young daughter, as well as traveling around Australia.
