ETA for Sydney cake delivery

As a business we very much focus on technology to improve our customer service just as much as we focus on producing excellent quality cakes and pastries.


Recently we've been discussing the idea of providing a 2 hour window ETA via SMS to customers who have selected our 'Anytime Delivery' (8am to 3.30pm) or 'Morning Delivery' (8am to 12pm) option. The SMS would be sent out either the night before or the morning of the order delivery.

To a customer this would very convenient because it allows them to take advantage of our low delivery fees ($9 for anytime and only $15 for morning) while at the same time knowing when their order will arrive. At the moment we receive countless phone calls at head office from customers asking for an ETA on their order to make easier for them to plan their day. We put the customer on hold, call the driver and then relay the ETA back to the customer. Receiving an SMS prior to the delivery would be a lot more convenient to the customer.

As well as an ETA, we would provide the driver's contact number to the customer to facilitate direct communication between the customer and the driver.

We're keen to implement this idea to continue to improve our cake delivery Sydney service.
